The photos from Indiependence are going up a little earlier than planned, as I wasn’t even supposed to be home from Mitchelstown until tomorrow. Indiependence is a gorgeous festival with one of the nicest, friendliest, most professional teams of staff I have ever met, a line-up that challenges a lot of the bigger festivals, and a lovely countryside setting.
Unfortunately, despite all of this, the weather won this time. A deluge the day before lead to the carpark and camper van parking being closed before the festival even started, and the weather was one step ahead for the whole weekend. The monsoon on the first night just capped off the muck-fest that Indie 2012 was to become. Apparently the sun has come out now but I can only imagine how wrecked the place is by now.
On the music front, I am obviously sad to have missed a lot of the acts that I headed down to see, including The Shoos, Le Galaxie, Scoobius Pip, Daithi, Elaine Mai and 2ManyDJs. But the acts I did get to see made up somewhat for the ones that I missed. Highlights were Raglans and Original Rudeboys, with Jape also hugely impressing. And getting to sleep in a warm bed last night definitely cemented my “No Regrets” attitude! One more camping festival to come in 2012, with Electric Picnic. Bring it!
